About
Kristine L. Calalang has been practicing family law and providing her clients with strong advocacy, compassion, and empathy since 2004. Ms. Calalang is passionate about serving in leadership positions to help elevate the legal profession, promote fellowship in the legal community, and support philanthropic endeavors. She has strong leadership roles as a Co-Chair of the Women in the Profession Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association along with having been the Association’s 2022 Chair and 2021 Vice Chair of the Board of Governors, a Cabinet Member, and Co-Chair of the Solo and Small Firm Committee. She additionally served as the 2019 Chair of the Family Law Section (FLS) of the Philadelphia Bar Association and continues to serve as a member of the FLS Executive Committee, Co-Chair of the Custody Committee, Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee, and founding member of the Diversity Inclusion Scholarship Committee. Ms. Calalang further serves as a member of the Judicial Selection and Retention Commission. In the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA), she serves as a Zone 1 member of the House of Delegates, a Co-Chair of the Legal Academics Committee, Co-Chair of the Family Law Section Council’s Diversity Task Force, and the Diversity Liaison to the PBA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Team for the Family Law Section Council and Minority Bar Committee (MBC). She is also the Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee of the Women in the Profession Commission of the PBA and Co-Chair of the Nominations Committee of the MBC. Ms. Calalang often plans and presents CLE and other informational programs for the Philadelphia Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Ms. Calalang is a past President of the Villanova Minority Alumni Society Leadership Board and serves as a Board Advisor on the Villanova Law Alumni Association (VLAA) Board and the Villanova Law Women's Network Board. She also serves as an alumni coach for the law school’s Moot Court Board. In addition, Ms. Calalang served on the Young Lawyer Editorial Board for The Legal Intelligencer. Ms. Calalang is on the Board of Directors for the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania (APABA-PA), serves as a Co-Chair of its Community Outreach Committee and was a past Co-Chair of its Lunar Banquet and Solo and Small Firm Committees. She is also a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the National Association of Women Lawyers, the National Filipino American Lawyers Association, the Asian Women's Coalition, the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia, and the Lawyers’ Club of Philadelphia. Additionally, Ms. Calalang is a mediator, a certified arbitrator, and trained in collaborative law.
Ms. Calalang was named as one of the top ten “Best Divorce Lawyers Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of 2024” by Forbes Advisor. She was also honored to accept the 2024 Outstanding Leadership in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as a co-chair of the PBA Family Law Section Diversity Task Force and to receive the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating. In addition, Ms. Calalang has received the 2022 Professional Excellence Award for Diversity Initiative by The Legal Intelligencer and the 2021 Herbert R. Weiman, Sr. & Jr. award from the FLS for her exceptional work in family law and service to the families of Philadelphia. She also she received the 2019 VLAA Gerald Abraham Award for Service to the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law for her exemplary leadership and service to the school and was also named as a 2019 Bar Star by the Philadelphia Bar Association. Ms. Calalang was named as a Rising Star in Super Lawyer: Rising Stars Editions 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014 and a Super Lawyer from 2020-2024. She was named as a Lawyer on the Fast Track in 2008 by The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly and has been on the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania's Pro Bono Rolls of Honor for exemplary pro bono work from 2006 – 2010. Ms. Calalang received her B.A. from The College of New Jersey and her J.D. from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.
